2009 October 10 – ONE PART: How I Do the Lighting Assignment ?
Some people were asking me “how I do the Lighting Assignment?”, and I also got asked “what is a light box?”.
Well, let me first say, a light box is “A white cloth teepee-shaped tent that diffuses light and eliminates reflections in photographs. You place the objects you want to shoot inside this tent. ” [source A Digital Photography Glossary for Dummies]
Now with the above description of what a light box is, I used it to diffuse light and took photos of my Star Wars Action Figures. I somewhat need light. Now with my camera, I don’t have a flash unit, so I have a built-on-pop-up flash on my D SLR, and with that the camera has flash modes. I took some series of pictures, but I have 3 pictures that are best, so I posted those.
I decided to set up the exact way how I took the pictures for my assignment. I used my light tent/box, black acrylic, sliver car sun shade, a clip task light and my 3 Star Wars Action Figures of Galen Marek. In the first picture you can see the set up, and the second picture is an actual shot using my point-n-shot camera.
I went back to join up and practice with the LAJEDI on Wed., July 15, 2009. Ive been going to through things along the beginning of the year I went to class. Ive been missing out on LAJEDI. I brought my camera and started to take a few pictures.
I went out to do some shopping, than went to Target to look around, but I ended up buying some extra things. Don’t you hate that? Anyway, I got some star wars related items. The newest addition to my Star Wars Lego addiction is Darth Vader’s Advance Tie Fighter.
Items used; Black posterboard, and i was using my point & shot camera.
Went to Downtown Disney yesterday, and visited the Lego store again. I went in and found another section of Star Wars set, and they were marked down. The Twilight from the movie and tv series is priced at lego.com for 99.99, but inside the store is 49.99, and that is 50.00 marked down. I went outside to walk around to make my decision, than after 10 minutes worth of just walking around, I went back to the lego store and got the Twilight building set.
I returned home and begun to build it. I am missing three pieces and this one took a longer time to build because the bags were not numbered, like the other set that I got. The other set was the Rogue Shadow (which is also been posted).
Anyway, here is the masterpiece. Nothing special of when I took these pictures.
Today is the due date for my Photoshop Final projects. I submitted two images but I also given the process images, showing the starting point to the finished images that I wanted to achieve. I have uploaded them to here, so I can share with you, and please give me comments, and thoughts, Id like to see what you all have to say about my work.
First Image is a drawing of me and a lulu girl dressed up as a jedi. I got this drawing at Comic Con a few years back. The artists name is Tim Wollweber, and I just simply scanned the image in to my computer, and used photoshop to outline the dark and important lines. Than, I went and colored in all the areas I wanted to show colors. I took the image to place it on a background image that is Star Wars related. I was applying layers and adding lightsaber effects.
Second Image is a Transformer Toy, his name is Optimus Prime the leader of the mighty Autobots from Cybertron. A year back, I took several exposed shots of this action figure, and made the image into a HDR resolution. HDR (High Dyanmic Range). For what I have applied are a few different things that I learned during class, which are; Filter in the Lens Blur, Masking, and Applying Text with gradient colors.
I am a huge Star Wars fan. I might no know everything about Star Wars. I have collectin lightsabers. Each character in the star wars universe have different hilts. not all the lightsabers look the same because each jedi /or sith create and build their own unique hilt. It is a training that every jedi /or sith must do to become a powerful jedi master or sith. A lightsaber is an elgent weapon and not as clumbsy as a blaster.
